Criminal Defense

In simple terms a crime is something that is prohibited by law and for which the government can punish you for. To convict a defendant of a crime, the prosecutor must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. A criminal defense lawyer provides representation to people facing criminal charges. Often times, many people facing criminal charges have no idea what the consequences are of their alleged crime; or they simply lack an understanding of how the prosecutor will attempt to prove the government’s case. A good criminal defense lawyer teaches their client the fundamentals of what crime or statute they are being accused of. They discuss vulnerabilities of the case – even if wrongly accused. They discuss and provide options to defend or mitigate consequences of punishment. All defendants shall be given a vigorous defense advocate and someone to serve as a pillar to prevent injustice.
